mini happies for the mind, heart and soul :) after The Spontaneous Purchase this morning, i went crazy at the bookstore.
i am a sucker for the following kind of books:

Faerie is never as far away as you think. Sometimes you find you have crossed all invisible line and must cope, as best as you can, with petulant princesses, vengeful owls, ladies who pass their time embroidering terrible fates or with endless paths in deep, dark woods and houses that never appear the same way twice. The heroines and heroes bedevilled by such problems in these fairy tales include a conceited Regency clergyman, an 18th century Jewish doctor and Mary, Queen of Scots as well as 2 characters from Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell: Strange himself and the Raven King.
completely sold by this summary. will definitely start with this book :)

Wolves and grandmothers, the seven dwarfs, a goose made of gold... the folk tales collected by the Grimm brothers created an astonishingly influential imaginative world. However, this is also a world where a woman cooks her stepson and an evil queen dances to death in a pair of burning shoes. Violent, funny, disturbing and wise, these stories have intrigued both childen and adults for generations. This collection features the 279 stories in an acclaimed, modern, unexpurgated translation.
the brothers Grimm were my heroes when i was a kid ok, apart from Enid Blyton during toddler years. so was really excited to see this compilation of 279 stories! another book came free with it.

The Bloody Chamber Red Riding Hood, Bluebeard, Puss-in-Boots, Beauty and the Beast, vampires and werewolves - absorbing collection of dark, sensual, fantastic stories.

remember Dorian Gray? Stuart Townsend played this role in The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen which i so happened to watch with mr tay AGAIN a couple of weeks back on astro. i just love superheroes movies la - apart from this movie, i love love love X-Men. Jean Grey *arrrrrrrr*
so, this Dorian Gray character was not supposed to look at his own self portrait. if he so take a glance at it, he will disintegrate into ashes. i am gonna find out Why in this book. hehehehe.
and lastly, i had to do the bimbo thing. I got the latest instalment of Sophie Kinsella's Shopaholic series. Rebecca Bloomwood has a baby now :)

and one more bimbo thing

Gorgeous Wedding Favors It's the wedding season again! I have been receiving wedding invites for almost every single week now since the month of September this year. Well, my friend Cara is tying the knot in Feb 2008 and with almost a substantial 1 year of planning since last year, she is still searching high and low for some last minute wedding favors to be added into the whole wedding planning thing.
I helped her around a bit and found this really wonderful site: TrulyWeddingFavors.com
The site is really pretty to look at and great for browsing as they have 100% unique images that really helped make browsing more fun and quick. Here are two of my favorites, cute aren't they?
 butterfly candle holder
 candy crystal
You can even search favors via theme. They currently have: Beach, Fairy Tale, Las Vegas, Wine, Asian, Coffee & Tea and Love Wedding Themes. No prizes for guessing which is my favorite theme! Just take a look at the following wedding favors, and I'm sure you'll guess it right :)

Not only that, you can search via, Price, By Season, and Type. It really is very user-friendly and fun to browse! Which, is in line with TrulyWeddingFavors.com's mission to help customers search for great wedding products and information in a very simplified manner and interface. And I believe they did it as there are so many favors that I love! For example, this Butterfly Wine Bottle Stopper.

i figure i wanna start my 2008 feeling *happy happy* at precisely 9.15am today, i bought a trip to Krabi-Bangkok 31 Dec 07 - 4 Jan 08.
Just like that? asked Sue.
Yeah, just like that, I replied.
anything that could lift me up a little now, i'd do it.
i'll just have to pray that my Traveling Partner will not kill me when he finds out later. and just incase you have an overwhelming urge to strangle me on Monday, just think of it as an early Valentine's pressie from me? :)
- happily counting down and struggling to stay sane till 31 Dec
Thursday
Mr. Edward Magorium: I fell so completely in love with these shoes, I bought enough pairs to last my whole lifetime. This is my last pair. i am happy to report that i slept last night without the help of Afidil :)
instead, took a shot of DOM, 10 min before hitting the sack. mommy asked me to do that one. "take one shot every night before going to sleep ok. can sleep better one, trust mommy. and also, next time, during labour time, easier on you and the baby also."
-_-
mr tay is on the way to Penang with his colleagues now. he'll be free from me till Monday for the PC Fair. i damn benci PC Fairs. each time there's a PC Fair, baby has to work throughout the entire weekend till closing/packing time which is about 11+ and by the time he's usually done, he only reaches home by 1am. and this is NOT the only weekend that's gonna be sacrificed. there's PC Fair KL next weekend and followed by PC Fair JB.
so i'm camping at puchong till Sunday. get lots of sleep + home-cooked meals by mommy + disturb the brother + watch Beatles concert with daddy + pamper sessions (facial, hair treatments, mani + pedi) + shopping. shhh.
went for Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium with mr tay, grace and adrian last night. the movie's not too bad, started off pretty good but the ending was a bit abrupt, kinda like 'potong stim'. natalie portman, was at her usual gorgeous self. i loved all her quirky sense of fashion throughout the entire movie! dustin hoffman was fantastic, perfect for the role. i am just wondering how did he talk the way he talks in the movie? kinda sound like as though you need to roll in your tongue when you speak. tested in the car when talking to baby but didn't quite sound like it. oh well.
told grace that this kinda movie is good for the soul :) indeed it was, initially i was feeling quite depressed the entire day but i'm glad to have caught this movie. I LOVE ALL THE CUTESY ART WORK AT THE START OF THE MOVIE DURING THE CREW CREDITS ROLLED IN. kept squeling with excitement like a piglet to mr tay
i would LOVE to work in such a shop! natalie's rainbow blouse underneath, niceee :)
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THIS
the tagline: All You Need is Love is a song by the Beatles :)
Taken from wiki: Across The Universe is a 2007 musical film directed by Julie Taymor and written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais. The script is based on an original story credited to Taymor, Clement and La Frenais that incorporates 34 compositions written by members of The Beatles.
There are cameo appearances by Bono as Dr. Robert (a counter-culture shaman), Eddie Izzard as Mr. Kite (a circus ringmaster), Joe Cocker as three street characters and Salma Hayek who appears (through digital special effects) as five nurses.
***
i'm excited about the 33 Beatles compositions featured in this film! all performed by artists such as Bono, Jim Sturgess, Dana Fuchs, Evan Rachel Wood and many more. Bono's gonna do "I Am the Walrus" and "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" :)
have to tell daddy about this. but then again, he has always insisted that NO ONE can do a good cover version of the Beatles' songs. but still!
cannot wait la! very kan cheong...
Wednesday
saving what's left of the girl's sanity everyone has their own sets of worry and despair. i have mine too. i am able to usually brush them off during the day but come nightfall, Despair haunts and sticks to me like a plague. every.single.night.
i can't sleep. and i haven't been sleeping well for the past couple of weeks. my mind shifts from first gear to the fifth just as swiftly as i lay my head to rest on the pillow. to diagnose the problem is actually easy - i think too much. and as to What do i think about, i'll keep them in my closet for now.
about a week ago, i found a little something that could knock me off within minutes and i call it my Miracle Pill. purchased over the counters of Watson, Afidil manufactured by Ranbaxy was supposed to be the alternative to Clarinase, a flu/sinus pill. Miss Pharmacist cautioned that Afidil will cause drowsiness, and therefore is best not to be taken during working hours. a week ago, i took one and not only did my flu disappear, it knocked me off into slumberland within minutes.
and now, even as the flu virus has left my body, i still take one each night. religiously, 1 pill + water, 5 min before getting ready to bed. i know it's bad but it helps chase the demons away at night. this morning, the boyfriend found out i've been taking it every night has warned me to quit the habit. "you don't want to depend on a pill every night to sleep for the rest of your lives do you?"
no, i don't want to. but please, i need my sleep. i want to sleep. why can't i just sleep like how normal people do?! having said that, my problem of an overactive mind first needs to be rectified. my mind can travel so far and intense at night, that it has caused me much depression and of course, my precious beauty sleep. i highly suspect it has something to do with the daily '9-5.30pm mon to fri' routine. i am not a fan of a routined life. it is mundane and boring, it is slowly killing and eating me inside.
i don't know how to deal with it. last night was exceptionally bad. i was fighting hard to fall asleep without Afidil, when all of a sudden, the Suddenly Inspired Boyfriend stormed into the room chanting, "Must make more money! Must make more money!". i could've have him killed at that very moment but decided against the idea as he is still however, part of the very few reasons left that is keeping my sanity intact.
so, i woke up today feeling extra shitty and 100x grouchier than Oscar of Sesame St. and what's worse is knowing that you'll be going through the same cycle tonight, tomorrow night, and night after. week after week after week. understand that i am doing something about it. i'm mentally conjuring up a Plan B and is aggressively plotting my sweet escape. all i need is somemore time and fundings. and a warm hug to tell me that everything's gonna be alright. i never thought i'd still say this but i miss you.
 "piggyback"
doing things like this, cheers me up in ways that you can never imagine. i perked up almost immediately the moment i set my mind, my fingers and most importantly, my heart to work. i learn to always draw from the heart and by doing that, my fingers move just as easy and in sync with what i have in mind. those who have me on Facebook would recognize this pig as Fat Luna, my ex-pet. "Ex" because I decided she was getting too depressing for me as she is NEVER smiling no matter how much i fed and pet her. so i got *stardust* instead, a happy jovial little dog.
Fat Luna

*stardust*

see what i mean?
anyways, i have another blog going on. this new little bloggie is also helping me stay sane for the time being. check it out if you want: http://miniboygirl.blogspot.com

Unique Baby Names
Choosing baby names has got to be one of the most exciting moments just before the little one arrives. For a person who have not gotten a child (yet), I already have a little list of my own! Well, I am very fond of Unique baby names, something that is not too common or too difficult to pronounce.
There is this site which I found extremely useful. It provides endless lists of baby names inclusive of their meanings, all sorted out into categories! How cool is that!
You can search via its:
- Origin - Meaning - Types (cool, classic, celebrity, geek, quirky, and linked)
Well, I like quirky names, so I did a quick browse of the list of quirky names. Names that I find interesting: Lola, Skye, Ariel, Reva, and lots more. There are also useful articles which I find really useful. For example, the articles on 'the do's and don'ts of baby naming' and 'the dangers of naming your baby'.
So, do you know the meaning of your children's English name or the origin of the name? Or if you are searching for the perfect and meaningful name for your baby; look them up at Gurgle.com Baby Namer.

my mom got back last night from her company trip to Langkawi. spoke to her on the phone and gawd she sounded like a little girl, all happy and chirpy. she bought:
me - a travelling bag me - hershey's chocolates (like i'm not fat enough) my dad - shirts i think herself - ANOTHER DOM! (david already bought 1 for her from bali airport recently) my brother - the best gift evarrr - BIG BOTTLE OF CHIVAS for only RM68! (somemore can tell me, "it's a 12 yr old bottle ok.")

"aiya, mommy tot wanna buy for him for Christmas or for his birthday la."
